About us

English 1 is an education provider with more than 30 years of experience in English language education. Our mission is to empower people through language learning and cultural experiences, helping them achieve both personal and professional success. We provide structured teaching opportunities, comprehensive training and ongoing support for candidates looking to build an international career.

We work closely with trusted partner organisations to connect motivated candidates with rewarding teaching opportunities overseas. Our goal is to build long term partnerships that create value for everyone involved by helping partners offer exciting international career opportunities while supporting candidates throughout every stage of their journey, from application and visa processing through to arrival and onboarding.

Candidate requirements

To be considered for our teaching opportunities, candidates should typically:

  • Hold a bachelor's degree or be due to graduate before their start date.

  • Be eligible to obtain a work visa for the destination country.

  • Be willing to live and work overseas for a minimum of 12 months.

  • Hold a TEFL qualification or be willing to complete one before departure. We can support candidates who do not already have one.

  • Successfully complete the required background and safeguarding checks.

Previous teaching experience is welcomed but is not essential. English 1 provides comprehensive training and ongoing professional development to ensure every teacher has the skills and confidence to succeed.

We work with partners who

  • Have access to motivated trainees, graduates, and candidates who interested in international opportunities

  • Can promote our opportunities through their networks, training programs, or digital platforms

  • Are committed to maintaining high standards of candidate quality and communication

  • Value long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships

Your role as a partner is simple: pre-screen and refer interested candidates to us, and we take care of the rest.

Marketing materials, tracking and reports

To make the process seamless and efficient, we will provide you with a unique tracking URL branded with your organisation's name in partnership with English 1. This enables us to accurately track applications generated through your organisation.

We will provide you with a Partner Pack containing a range of marketing resources to support your recruitment activity. This includes our company brochure, job descriptions, branded images, social media links, candidate testimonials and other promotional materials that you can use across your channels.

In addition, we provide weekly reporting, giving partners full visibility of the referrals they generate. These reports show the number of leads that have been passed to us through your organisation, along with the current status of each lead within the application process, ensuring complete transparency and enabling you to monitor the success of the partnership.

Through this system, we will be able to track your candidates at every stage of the recruitment journey:

  • Application submission

  • Application progress and results

  • Offer acceptance

  • Visa application status

  • Arrival confirmation

Referral fee

Once your referred candidate has successfully completed their probation period (two months after their arrival), you can submit an invoice for the agreed referral fee. We will process payment promptly in accordance with our payment terms.
