The ESL jobs industry is as big as it has ever been. As a teacher, or someone looking to be a teacher, you'll have a few countries where you'll be able to teach. Having these choices is great, but sometimes, too much choice isn't always a good thing. Read our five reasons why you should start an ESL job in China. You might find this can help you in the decision-making process.

The Students

An ESL job is a job (and a great one). When you move to China, you will spend most of your time in the classroom with your students. Teaching English is great fun, and it's made even better when you have a great bunch of students. Your students in China, on the whole, are fantastic. If you're teaching kids, you'll find that they are full of energy, and they love games and activities. If you're teaching adults, you'll find that they are also big kids at heart. They also love games and are keen to learn. Adult learners are self-motivated and can also teach you a thing or two!

The Culture

Outside of the classroom, you'll get the chance to see Chinese culture for yourself. So much has been said already about China's 5,000-year history and culture. But there is a new modern technological culture emerging, and it's equally as fascinating. In the last few years, there has been an explosion of apps and mobile technology. You can buy anything on your mobile phone. You can order taxis, buy food, and clothes, book massages and much more. All of this can be paid for via Ali Pay, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay and even WeChat Pay. China's tech is exciting and not to be missed!

The Food

If you've read our posts on eating Chinese food in China, you'll either be left hungry or not so thrilled. For many, Chinese food is the epitome of food heaven. There's so much variety in China. There are hundreds of local dishes to try, as well as some old favourites found everywhere in China. If you're living in a bigger city, then you'll also have lots of international food to try. There really is something for everyone.

The language

It seems like there are more and more international expats speaking Chinese. The language is a great language to learn, despite the tricky tones. If you do feel a little apprehensive about learning Chinese, then you don't need to be. You'll find that by living here, you'll pick up the words that you need to get buy. If you really don't want to learn, then you are in luck. More and more Chinese people can speak English so that you can live here in comfort.

The Country

In general, there is so much to see and do in China. You can hop on a train or a plane and head off to see some of the world's most beautiful mountain ranges. Or you can head to a beach or visit a temple that's centuries old. In China, there is a lifetime's worth of holiday and vacation destinations to go and see. You'll be spoilt for choice.

There are hundreds of reasons why you should start an ESL job in China, the five in this post are here to help you get started.
