The Company

EF English First is a part of the EF Language and Schools division of the parent company EF Education First. We specialize in the provision of English language education at our local schools across China and Indonesia. EF China was established in 1997. As of now, we have expanded to over 60 cities and 300 schools as well as into Russia and Indonesia. These schools comprise three types – Kids and Teens, Adults and Online which are described below and include curriculums based on our EFEKTA system – “Learn, Try, Apply”.

Kids and Teens

Our Kids and Teens schools teach students from ages 3-18 and are broken down into 4 main products: Small Stars (3-6 years old), High Flyers (6-10 years old), Trailblazers (10-14 years old) and Front Runners (14-18 years old). All of our products integrate the use of IWBs, iPads and online study along with classroom activities including games and songs. Our courses focus on whole child development which, along with language development, includes motor, creativity, problem-solving, exam and soft skills development depending on the age group as well as introducing children to cultural aspects of English. The course covers content from levels A1 to C1.2 on the CEFR.

Our adult schools provide a blended learning syllabus set in a social environment creating a space where students can communicate in English in a realistic manner without leaving their country. Students learn online with EF Englishtown and then take corresponding in-centre classes to practice what they have learned. One of the most enjoyable parts of the curriculum for both students and teachers is the Life Club classes and events where activities ranging from debating to cooking are conducted in English to provide further opportunities for authentic English use. Classes are available from complete beginner to upper advanced levels and students range from university undergraduates to professionals to retirees creating a varied and interesting atmosphere.

Our Online Teaching Centre in Shanghai, China employs around 100 international teachers who provide live online lessons to our adult students around the country. These lessons, taught in online virtual classrooms include 20-minute ‘checkpoint' lessons which tie into the unit the student is studying online, 40-minute group lessons with a maximum of 8 students, 45-minute private one-to-one lessons and online written correction of student's assignments. Students can select their teachers, private lesson topics and lesson times between 8 a.m. and midnight.

Teacher Development

We have an outstanding continuous professional development program consisting of weekly training workshops as well as distance learning courses with topics ranging from Teaching Grammar to Introduction to Management available to all of our teachers. We are also proud to be providers of the Cambridge TKT exams, Trinity College CertTESOL and DipTESOL qualifications as well as the International Diploma in Language Teaching Management (IDLTM) in partnership with the University of Queensland.

Marketing Materials

Our marketing team will be happy to provide you with up-to-date information for your websites, newsletters or EDMs etc. We will endeavour to provide what best suits your needs whether that's a poster for your training centre or some specifically designed content for your website. In addition to this, our UK-based staff can be a point of contact for queries and where possible will be happy to speak to your trainees during courses in person or by setting up a webinar.

Tracking and Reports

To make sure the process is as labour free for you as possible we will provide a unique URL with your organisation's name in combination with EF to track your applicants. Any applicants applying through this URL will be tracked at each stage of the recruitment process allowing us to generate regular reports to keep you up to date on your candidate's progress. This will allow you to see when your candidate has applied, passed their interview, accepted our offer, applied for their visa and ultimately arrived. We have a dedicated recruitment team that takes responsibility for the hiring process from beginning to end meaning that as a partner all you need to do is refer your interested trainees and alumni to your URL.

Referral Fees

Once you see that your candidate has reached the ‘arrived' stage on your report, simply send us an invoice and we'll process our referral fee payment as a final thank you.
